if you are on mtx and take folic acid, how many mg do you take daily?

I mg. I upped to 3 mg when I had mouth sores and then back to 1 mg. Haven't had any mouth sores since.

I'm on 1mg and have mouth sores... so i'm gonna have to up the dosage i guess!

I am self-injecting .9ml of MTX and am on 2 mg of folic acid. No mouth sores since going up from 1 mg folic acid.

Hi,

I mentioned in recent reply to post that here in Australia it seems to be standard to take 5mg Folic Acid daily.

I am on MTX 25mg/1ml injection weekly.

I have had gone up to 1.8 mg of FA before. That's because of what the Rheumy RX'd me with 1 mg plus what I took in my multi was 800 mcg.

I am still taking 5 mg of folic acid daily, although I have been off mthx since last fall. After 10 years, and all the liver problems, plus folic acid gave me an allergic reaction, he thinks I need to stay on a high dose, to help my liver recover. Folic Acid hasn't bothered me since I went off the mthx. Pretty weird, hey?

10mg 24 hours after my shot, also advised not to take my multi with folic acid the day I do the shot

The doctor put me on 1mg of Folic Acid. I have never had the mouth sores it seems like alot of people get. I buy over the counter Folic Acid and take 3 of them a day. It is cheaper than having a prescription.

5mg to be taken the day after the mtx according to instructions I was given. i dont know how much it is necessary with other drugs and cant remember if I had it with arava.

I was rx 1 mg to start and because of sores upped the folic acid to 2 mg a day. I've been off MTX for over a year but because of the anemia the drs have left me on it. The med is a $4 drug at the local drug stores and it's hard to find an otc that has enough mg to equal the perscription - 2 mg = 2,000 mcg.

aren't you all wonderful for letting me know. I was just curious because I wondered if the higher amounts actually diminished the benefit and because of the mouth sores doc had stated to take 3 mg a day. Just when I was considering this and asking you all the mtx was pulled yesterday and abrava swapped in (my chest x-ray is still not showing that I have recuperated from the pneumonia). due to the recurrant pneumonias I have been ruled out for continued mtx with pneumonia. and camba, doc says folic acid not a necssity with abrava. thanks for chiming in and letting me know.
