Hip problems bursitis?

Well I have been doing ok except for this stupid hip/leg problem. I have this spot on my outter theigh that feels like I have a shot of novicane in it. Feel a numbness except when I stand for a long time I get a shooting pain down it. Lately have had some hip soreness when I lay on it. Went to dr. and started out with some PT and it has helped but my hips both hurt now. Thinking bursitis. I did get some xrays done and the dr.
said I have some hip deterioration so going in today to see what is happening. My hip joints don't hurt its more sore on the hip fat pads. We will see, worried about the deterioration she saw too.

Lots of stress going on here with my son's marriage and him moving back in with us. Then on top of it my tooth broke last night and have to find a dentist to look at it today. Yuk! And we got more snow on top of it. Friday is going to be a bad day! Can't wait to go to bed.

I am sorry you are going through so much right now. Hopefully things will only get better from here.
I can relate to the hip tenderness. I have been having a hard time with mainly my left hip this week. It is very tender to the touch and I have had to limit walking somewhat due to the pain. Percocet and an icy hot patch have helped some, but I took a walk today. I am afraid it will be hurting again tonight and tomorrow.

What is with this freakin' disease? My right hip is really bothering me. It has always been a little stiff in the mornings for the past several years (just dx'd less than1 year ago), but it is really getting annoying. the pain is hard to explain. It's like it is deep in the glute, but also the bony area. It goes down the leg, and I feel it giving me a limp. it isn't noticeable, but I feel it. Is our whole body deteriorating? It seems like one thing after another. Renee, I'm sorry I'm griping on your post. I hope you feel better soon. Jess, I hope your walk didn't do you in. I'm going to try some yoga stretches...... or not. Bed sounds good too.

I had a simile issue about a year ago and had a dr give me epidural injections in my spine. the shooting pain in the hip and down the legs went away overnight(however the injection was unimaginable pain at the time and the first 24 hours after)not everyone has pain with them though. Maybe it can help. Just make sure the dr has done plenty of these before he or she tries them on you

Before I was diagnosed with RA, my left shoulder was diagnosed as bursitus. I got a cortizone injection and the pain ans stiffness disappeared. No pain, doctor numbs it before shooting in the meds.

My husband has siatica and bulging discs in his back and gets the shooting pain and numbness down his leg like you described.

It could be RA, could be bursitus or as Blondesweetie suggests it could be in your back. You need to get an actual diagnosis so that you can get treatment that actually works.

Remember a rhuematolgist doesn't have the expertise an orthopedic doctor has when it comes to problem areas like your hip.

Hi, new here but not new to RA. I have been dealing with bursitis in my left hip first since Nov and then my right hip Jan. Had x-rays. I couldn't even walk with crutches. It had swollen out and was pressing on my nerve shooting pain all the way to my foot. I couldn't even move my leg if I wanted to. It was useless. I had to receive 2 cortizone injections a week apart to get a little relief. I am still dealing with the pain. Some days I can barely walk. Others pretty good. My rheumy said it was from my knees which I have had 3 surgeries on. They have filled in again. Looking at 2 knee replacements now. Hope it helps a little.

I have this problem right before it rains. Also when it is cold and wet outside. I find that if I supplement with some Magnesium Citrate in a powder form, I do better. It's not fun when this happens.
