Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...

You should see your Rheumatologist. I just had this and a round of prednisone almost cleared it. Still have pain with certain movements, but not as bad.
Call or see your Rheumatologist.
it was so weird, i would be walking along and suddenly my right hip would go out and i would nearly fall down. the pain was excruciating. i literally had to walk like Quasimodo with the right leg turned outward so i wouldn't randomly fall. one trip to the chiropractor fixed it.
unless you have a pre-scheduled doc appointment coming up, i would try the chiropractor and have him tell you if you need diagnostic tests and/or further treatment. Otherwise i would mention it to the rheumy and see what he/she says.
Thx for the advice. If it does pop or do something significant, I will call immediately.
It could be both hip & an "itis" this. If the joint is irritated it can cause the surrounding tissue to inflame. It's definitely in the right place to be your hip joint. But with that could be bursitis, tendonitis and/or edema. (Or tenosynovitis, a pull or tear in a ligament/tendon)
I've had all of them in the last 6mo. The bursa is more toward the outside of the side hip. The tendonitis is more toward the inner hip/groin like you described and the edema is more upper thigh. (I did not have tenosynovitis. The fluid is in my muscle not tendon.) Mine has progressed since my MRI in March but I also refuse prednisone & steroid injections. I'm really hoping it goes away on its own but the more time that passes the more I'm starting to wonder if that's gonna happen.
I'd ask for a hip/pelvic MRI. I know an MSUS will pick up inflammation not sure about both soft tissue & joint. It's also in an awkward place being the groin and all. Ask for a bi-lateral one too. Even though you're only feeling pain on one side the other could still have something going on. Then you'd only have to do the test once. I don't know about you but I don't like being stuck in those machines.
**This has been my experience & others with the same issues may have a different experience and/or symptoms**
Hope you feel better.
