I have decided to join a support after three years of having this. I got dianoised with RA when I was 20 years old. I am 23 now and none of my friends understand what it is like and how hard it is to deal with this. None of the medications i have tried seem to work and it just worse so i decided to join a group where people understand.:)

I am on methotrate, proxicam, folic acid, hydroclorine, hydro 10's and a research drug. I have been on enbrel and humeria in the past but that left really bad welts on my legs. and it was swollen and rash that would last two weeks and all that fun stuff. They want to put me on iv infusions but i am a full time college student who works at walmart full time and our insurance sucks so i doubt i can afford those:(

Welcome! You will find great support and info. here. I was diagnosed with RA at 24 so I can relate. I am now 30 and still don't know anyone personally with RA and Lupus so I know what it's like to feel like none of your friends or familiy really get it and understand.

You know what I love about Daily Strength? It is a place where I can actually talk about having RA. It seems like in the real world, if I ever feel comfortable enough to discuss RA, people's eyes start to glaze over and they edge toward the door! Here we can all share! Welcome!

SKMac, I know what you're talking about, that moment when conversation stops and the crickets start chirping...eyes anxiously look around, and no one in the room knows what the next step should be...hehe.

Seriously though, have you noticed how status updates on Facebook about a headache get tons of responses, where status updates about RA get one comment (if lucky.) Guess it's just because more people can relate to a common headache?

Oh that annoys me when that happens. It's like...I don't wanna hear about your scraped knee or your blocked nose! I don't actually say that but it's what I'm thinking most of the time.

Welcome!!! Yep, we certainly are in a minority, raGUY. I guess that's agood thing for everyone else. Well, good for them - *we* have to keep on somehow!
