My heart goes out to you, because my feet and ankles are my worst places. Let us know how things go.
A scooter sounds so boring. Hold out for a Segway!
My podiatrist personally uses them as well. He also tells me to wear my shoes in the house for support. I find that hard to do though.
However, a few weeks ago I bought lace up shoes. I tried on Sketchers but they put too much pressure in the joints. I actually ended up buying New Balance Walking 475v2. They are great because they have a wide toe box that does not squeeze where the joints of the foot are. The first day I had the laces a little too snug and had to loosen them by mid morning but then they were great. I have made it through every day without wanting to wear my slippers. The laces have not been a problem but I do plan on buying the elastic curly q ones that you don't tie.
Good luck in your search and please let us know what works for you.~Lori
