What are some of your favorite gadgets in the kitchen that make it easier to prepare or cook food, particularly if your hands are affected? For example, opening jars, cutting up veggies..

Here are mine;

Vidalia, Chop WIzard - got this at Target. It is great for dicing onions. It is a little tough to close down the cover, to dice, so I put it on the floor, put a towel over it, and step on it. I think it is about $20

A small food chopper - electric.

A food processor with a large tube, to slice veggies. It is heavy to lift, so I leave it out on the counter.

I found this fabulous tool at my local Wegman's... it is a 6-in-1 multi opener from Progressive! It opens bottle caps, pull tabs, safety seals, bottle tops, jar lids and will slice open bags... all in ONE! It is SO easy to use and is dishwasher safe. I think that Bed,Bath and Beyond sells them also. It has saved my hands a ton! Think was around $10... but the best I have found.

Teenaged sons! They're great for opening things, carrying groceries, etc. Guess I'll have to change strategies soon.

Sounds like I'll have to make a stop at Bed, Bath and Beyond when I get back to the USA. MKP!, I also have a simple small electric food chopper- it is a great hand-saver and chops stuff up so quickly.

Hi Melissa, This is a good thread. I actually have a hard plastic device that is a bottle opener. It was sent to me free from Aboott through the RA association. Not certain how or why it came to me (possibly got my name through donations). It works great. Altoclef you made me smile when I read your post. I like that teenage sons. great answer. I have adult sons so I do use them when around to open those tough to open jars that don't given. Donnarae, I will have to look for your gadget, that sounds like a huge assistance. Thanks for that tip. I love your avitar the car. I may have mentioned this before, but your cat looks exactly like my Robin. have three tuxedo cats. Might start a thread about pets...Thanks for sharing.

Hey Christine... that is my Sylvester,, rescue kitty! He was just home from the shelter then and hiding in my extra bedroom... he is now EVERYWHERE and a pure delight! Love Tuxs...

I wanted to add that I also bought an electric wine opener to help with that process also! Anything to ease our lives!

My fav is my under counter electric jar opener and hand held little bottle opener that's hard to describe. then i have another that pops jar lids open. Opening things is my biggest problem...maybe cause i'm not much of a cook! :-) couldn't live without these goodies.

Melissaen I haven't ordered yet; my daughter got me sn electric jar opene rby Hamilton Beach and an electric can opener. Farberwear makes a can opener with a crank that also works. Trish
