We haven't had trick-or-treaters for years. Living out in the country cuts down on most of the door to door traffic. The few who would even think about stopping drive on when our 4 dogs meet them at the gate entrance.

I used to enjoy it when the kids were younger and we lived in town. I loved seeing all the different costumes the kids had on. I don't know how I would do with having RD now. I can get up/down ok, its the getting started walking that bothers me. Once I've been sitting a while, my left hip just does not want to motivate when I want it to.

We had a great night. The hubby and I met up with some friends for dinner. Ended up staying and visiting for a few hours. Loads of fun. The place we went allows dogs on the outside patio and we knew there would be some kiddos there. So I brought candy and dog biscuits! Everyone kept bringing their 2 legged, and 4 legged, kids by our table for treats!

My kids are 10 and 12 - each went with friends in the neighborhood and to their friends neighborhood. I was home, which was fun! I had about 30 treaters...decent amount, although I'm left with a lot of candy.

My daughter weighed the loot she got - 7 lbs! Oh wow! My son is a 7th grader and I was so happy he didn't think he was too old to go. One friend told me she had carrots (little baggies) for the teens or that her kids come back in to unload the candy they don't keep and that gets handed to teens. I had never heard of such! I do agree, fuzzy legs and beards/moustaches is a bit old. It might have just been my son's last year, so I'm glad I was around and able when they came back in to see all his loot.

For those wondering about the apartment kids - lots go to neighborhood parties/carnivals/Trunk or Treats instead of door to door.

For the older kids I hand out candy and Halloween pencils. They love the pencils. I get them from walmart. The small kids I give them stickers, tiny puzzles, and halloween rub on tattoos. I really love holloween, I had 60 kids. They bring the kids on a huge hay wagon. I have no idea who the kids are, must be a church group, lot of adults watching them. I had a blast!

Our night turned out well. All the doorbell ringing was stressing our dog out so my husband got a long extension cord, a chair and my heated blanket and we set up on the front step. It was about 45 degrees and without the blanket plugged in I would not have been able to be out there long at all. We had 40-50 kiddos. Most of them were little with just a few that seemed too old. Took about 2 hours before we ran out of candy and went in.

It is great reading about the different halloween nights...I really enjoy halloween.

the more the merrier. my kids went out past the age range acceptable to the pc halloween police. it's a 120 minute affair i don't care where they are from or what their age is. one world. one dental cavity.

Over the years we have had all ages-even not in costume and we will give them a treat as long as they are no trouble
