Foot Involvement

Looking for insight/advice. I have RA in my hands, wrists, hips and shoulders and I am on MTX, Plaquenil at present (biologics pending-I haven't committed yet).

In the last week or two I have noticed a burning in my feet-on the soles and pain in the base of my feet. Could this be more of the RA and is this what you experienced when it traveled to your feet? Thanks.

So, so GLAD you started this thread, Redpoppy!

My RA started with the sensation that my feet and hands were literally ON FIRE 24/7.

PLEASE talk to your RA doctor and let them know this! The sooner you do something about it, the better you will feel! :)

I too have recently noticed my feet feeling something. I try to attribute it to heat and walking as it has been very humid in NY lately. When the feel like they are burning, I keep a cool towel on them at night and if they are cold, I put socks on at night. Also, I find the most agreeable shoe is my Nike sneakers (laceups) with powder and socks. Just trying to cope like everyone elses.

I have RA related neuropathy in my hands and feet, tingling, burning, pins and needles. Sometimes the bottoms of my feet feel like they are being held to an iron. Neorontin (gabapentin) helps.

It sounds like a lot of people get that "burning" sensation. Only had that before drugs and diagnosis when literally purple inflamed area round big toe which led to initial diagnosis of gout instead of RA. But do get pain, even now.

Rheumy said that small bones in feet are often the first to be attacked even if pain isnt always there. And I know it comes back as I had to take my boots off last night (winter here) when with my singing group as feet hurting.

RA pain attacks do come and go and change location so I hope you dont have this permanently.
