I'm usually so tired especially during a flare I sleep. Yes pain disrupts but all I want to do is chill. My hips always bother me when I'm off treatment or flare. Usually wakes me but then again a toe that hurts to high heaven can wake me.
Hope you find some relief. You call your dr? 8 days is long enough to suffer.

The flare I am in now has lasted about a year.... and boy am I tried of it. Keeping hoping the new meds will kick in... I only sleep about 3 to 4 hours a night ... thank goodness I am home all the time.
But I don't want to scare you...a flare that long has not been the norm for me. I have had RA for 20+ years and over that time frame I would say my flares would last a week sometime but other times they would last for a few months. This time the RA is just not letting up. I would say you should let your doctor know you are not able to sleep and the flare is getting the best of you and see what he/she would suggest.

I'm starting one now. Fingers, wrists, ankles and feet keeping me up most of the night. I'm told I can take prednisone short term for flares but as I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis..............I think I'll pass on it. My flares vary in intensity and duration. The only thing I was told to take for pain is 2 extra strength Tylenol and 2 naproxen sodium otc. Completely worthless.

Remind me again what "sleep" means.

I have been pretty much flaring for a year. Some days not as bad as other days and some days the pain makes me want to quit. My toes, knees, elbows, you name it. If it weren't for prednisone I fear how bad the pain would b without it even though I am not keen on the side effects. But its either medication or very severe pain. Just took my second injection of humira waiting to see if it helps. No change yet. Hope things settle down for you.
