Apparently in RA, the little nodules that lodge in the joints are round like ball bearings. I saw them on an xray of my feet, and it looked like a tire shop gone awry. But gout is little crystals - sharp ones sticking into you from the inside. You might want to check with your rheumy. Mine went away on its own. I hope I never have that again.
