I seem to flare after I take my dose. I took it Saturday (the full dose) and yesterday my you couldn't even see my knuckles. OY, I don't think I've taken it long enough to be of any help to you..but I find it disconcerting that it feels like it makes it flare. Some one on here told me that should pass..I hope so!

It would seem reasonable that some people might metabolize it out of their bodies faster than others, many woman who get hormone shots can feel they are due a few days before the shot is due, so it wouldn't surprise me at all...

I am only 6 weeks into my diagnosis and MTX. I have increased it from the initial 10 mg, to 12.5 mg and finally, 15 mg. I take my shot on Friday mornings. I have noticed that by about Wednesday I am starting to feel more pain as well. I don't know if I will have further increases after I see my rhuemy in Jan or not. I guess time will tell.

Thanks Lori and Morgan... I'm going to keep an eye on things and if needed bring it up at my next rheumy appointment.

I do my injections on Friday's as well and by Wed/Thurs it seems to be coming back.

Lori I am just 6 weeks into MTX as well. Your dosage seems a bit low to me, at least compared to how my rheumy started me off. I did 15mg for 2 weeks, then upped it to 20mg. 25mg is the highest anyone goes to for RA, so you and I both have a little room to increase if needed.

I'm really hoping I can make do with just MTX and not be forced to add Enbrel or other biologics into the mix.

I've always been someone who only took 1 tylenol if I was dying from a headache - so don't want to add too many nasty drugs into my system!

I may have been started out slower than most because I have a history of having some pretty nasty reactions to medications. I'm guessing my rheumy was just being cautious.

Morgan617, I meant to mention that I too noticed increased swelling in my hands the day after my injeciton. That happened this week. I woke up Saturday morning and could not see my knuckles or make a fist. Luckily, it only lasted a few hours.

I have also noticed that the evening after I take my shot I am pretty achy all over. I don't know if it is the medication or the fact that the day after I am so tired I pretty much sit around and nap all day. I just fon't have any energy to do anything else. I was guessing that the increased achiness that evening was from not moving around as much all day. Who knows, this whole disease and the meds to treat it are just mind boggeling! ~Lori
