I'm 20 years old with RA and I feel so alone. I was just precribed leflunomide but it's just like methotrexate. The same nausea, difficulty sleeping, and dizziness. I don't know anyone my age going through a similar problem and I feel like I can't talk about it to others. My RA has been affecting my anxiety and depression more than ever lately and I just don't know what to do.
You'd think there'd be a cure for this by now.

I've been on high dose prednisone for pneumonia, and now I am slowly weaning. But lots of symptoms I don't like having, plus overeating has put at least 10 lbs on me. As for meds, they take a long time to figure out, for many people. I've been on mthx and leflunomide, and once I got over the initial nausea, I never had another problem. You should talk to your doctor about anti-nausea meds or something to help you sleep.
Right now, getting the disease under control is more important than side effects. You need to hit RA hard at the beginning, or it will be much more severe, than if you had taken drugs to get it under control. You might also want to ask about a biologic.
