I'm sure I will get some good replies on this one!
These are some comments I've had thus far from co-workers, family, friends, and other associates.
"My friend had that and she just takes a pill...."
"Oh, I know I have arthritis too..."
"You're a hypochondriac..."
"You will never be like your mother...she wasn't active"
"Well, you are getting older..."
"Have you tried ibuprofen...?"
REALLY??? People just don't get it, do they? I don't have a simple headache or a bad knee from sports injury. My immune system is attacking itself.
So frustrating. How do you all explain what this is?

It is very hurtful to have to go through something like this and then to be dismissed by those who should understand. please don't give yourself emotional pain trying to get someone to understand what you are going through. Instead, be kind to yourself and don't lend an ear to anyone who starts making your condition about their experiences. It's not about them. You don't owe them any space in your head. Have the courage to be kind to yourself, and that includes emotionally. Learn how to block out all the harmful radiation from the peanut gallery.
