I had to go to the ER today. I called my insurance nurse and asked what type lot Dr I should see. She asked all sorts of questions. She saw that I have bipolar and asked if I. Had thought of hurting myself due to the intense chronic pain I had. I told her last week I had simply thought that it would be nice someday when I was dead cuz I would no longer have pain. Well guess that was a major red flag for a nurse when it comes to bipolar people.
She told me to go to ER within 2-3hours. I went and was triaged in right away. Well nurse practioner saw me and after all was said and done I had a prescription for prednisone 10mg for 10 days and one for norco 5/325 for 15 of them. It says take 1 or 2 as needed for pain. I waited like I always do and the pain was horrible before I took one. Waited for 2hours...nothing. HADto take another one. Feel better now.
I have to say that even if I had to keep suffering the feeling of validation I received from the insurance nurse and at the ER was worth it all. I had told the triage nurse abbout the pain and the bipolar and he thought my pain meant something DESPITE the bipolar. Then the ins. nurse told me it sounded as if I had an autoimmune problem. The NP at the ER told me I needed to see a rheumy for tests cuz most all of them would take to long for the ER, and she could do a sed rate but "she could tell from where she was that I had inflammation in my hands and feet "!!! I was believed!!! That was the best joy I have had for my own self in such a very very long time!!!
Now I will make an appt with the "very nice" rheumy she recommended and hopefully things will work out. I hope that this flare is still going on. I may have waited too long. I have been having serious pain since the beginning of march. Never ever has the pain been this bad. Some hope is that the ins. nurse said that bipolar and bad chronic pain don't mix. At least there are a few out there who still care more about whether a person lives or dies than whether letting them have pain meds will create a junky out of them.
Anyway. I know I posted this past week and I am really sorry I did not reply if you guys replied. To be quite honest this is the first time I have been awake with no pain in my fingers since then!! Isn't it a shame how sometimes we think so little of ourselves that it actually takes someone else telling us to go to the Dr before we do it?? Old school Southern woman in my case .. oh yeah and that pesky bipolar as well....Thanx friends!!!........Irish

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I am so glad that you received validation in your experience. I know what it's like to be in pain and NOT get those meds, and know that I am not an addict and not faking...but still have to go without, because I didn't have a diagnosis.
