Eyes

My eyes are bothering me pretty bad...they feel like i have the flu..it hurts to move them....could it be prednisone? its been a week tomorrow since ive been on it..10mg.

can you get eye problems with R.A?

Not to scare you, but basically everything imaginable can happen with RA. If you go up to the grey strip on this page, right under "Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group", you will see a number of options to click on. Click on "news and info" and you'll get a lot of info right there about RA. It does mention eye problems and you might want to read it. It's scary and that is why it's important to get your inflammation under control. Seeing an opthamologist is important, so if you can, see one---I haven't yet and need to.

Prednisone can also cause eye pain and red eyes. So it could be either one or both causing the problem. A lot of the RA medications can cause various side effects including eye problems. I would let your doctor know and decide for yourself how well Prednisone is working for you and if it's worth this inconvenience.

RA is a chameleon disease - I believe it can pop up anywhere. I seem to remember one of the women in our "drip group" - Remicade users - had an eye issue.

I hope you can figure out soon what is causing this for you.

A common symptom of RA is dry eyes. This can make your eyes hurt quite a bit. Inflammation shuts down your tear production. There's another, related autoimmune disorder called Sjogren's Disorder, were dry eyes and dry mouth are prominently featured, as well as the possibility of many of the RA symptoms.

YES YES YES!!! I've have RA in my right eye! I've had 3 cataract surgeies in the same eye. The catarac started when I was 23! I take prednisone drops to keep the swelling down behind the eye. Was told every time it swells it scars which causes vision loss. The prednisone causes the cataracs though hence the surgeries. You need to see an opthomologist and make them Aware of the RA
