It's amazing how different everyone responds to treatments & meds.
It's also amazing the honesty here, which a appreciate & adore about this group.

I'm curious to see how it works for you Lynn. I hope you do get some relief. Hope for the future for so many following.

The few I've heard using it gained some type of control.
One stated it helped her sleep which was a problem with her pain.

Doctors can't seem to agree about prescribing.
My doctor is on the opposing side.
During a meeting with the support group the nurse advised a patient to not even think about bringing it up. She was pretty serious about it.

I've come to realize there's a lot of things the medical community cannot agree on. Very frustrating for the patients.

@Christine26 - my purchase came with no directions regarding how often to use MM or how much to "take" at any given time. MM use seems to be largely experimental - some need lots, some need just a couple of puffs. I was advised that most arthritis patients find that eating MM is more effective than smoking it. I bought a couple of sorta-brownies to test that theory, but they didn't seem to affect me in any way - as if I'd eaten a regular cookie (in case you're wondering, smoking is, for me, more...effective...but in a psychedelic way, not a pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory kind of way, which explains why I've made one purchase in a 3-year period!) ;-)

The "prescription bottles" of MM (I took the collective's suggestion to buy one one sleepy and one awake strain) were labeled so I could tell the difference between them. The 20-something gentleman behind the counter was emphasizing to me not to smoke in a public place, keeping my purchase in the trunk on the way home so there's no question about smoking and driving, I suppose, and making sure that I have my card with me at all times if I imbibed outside of my home (which I've never done). The collective's priority seems to be on keeping themselves out of trouble and you out of jail; figuring out dosage seems to be left up to the user.

Did yours come with a CBD level? That seems to be what works as an anti-inflammatory by what I've seen on the links posted here. That's why, if I decide to try it, I'd go with high CBD level, low THC (which I suspect is "awake") - enough to lift my spirits when my pain is high.

I saw a meme on FB today that sounds like what you're saying about the medical community not agreeing. It was called Food for Thought: Every drug that has been recalled by the FDA was first proven to be "safe and effective" by the FDA...

My guess is that doctors who froth and foam at the very idea of MM are people who support the War on Drugs and think that marijuana is the devil incarnate. (Or would that be "invegetablate"? Inherbate? Whatever.) Different if someone says that he/she has had several patients try it without good results, don't waste your money, of course.

Trina, I would guess that some dispensaries might give more information and dosing suggestions than others. If it is one with the guy there in the back office to write the prescription after a patient stammers out, "Uh, yeah, lower back pain! That's the ticket!" they may be a little less after the true medical business.

I'm curious to see how all this plays out in Colorado and Washington. Will there still be medical dispensaries and a medical market? Does anyone know what the price difference between medical and recreational is?

I don't know for certain about prices, I just know when I saw a local news "special report" from Colorado re: recreational, it was (by my standards) high-priced. Then again, they had hired a party bus to go from dispensary to dispensary to see what new goodies they could find. They paid $200 each for the bus alone... plus $300+ per ounce.

Someone on this thread said that in Michigan it's by donation only. I have no idea how that works, either. :\

Article in this morning's NYTimes about Washington's transition from medical only to recreational, and how it will affect the medical users.

Here in Colorado the "recreational" prices are sky high. Now the cost of medical MJ is increasing, not that it was ever cheap. Some think prices will come down once more growers enter the market and the novelty wears off.

In my town no one sells recreational MJ. The only ones who will be able to sell it are the MJ dispensaries, but right now they can't sell it.

The material I will be trying, if the US Postal Service can locate the package, is not medical marijuana. Medical marijuana contains THC as the active ingredient. What I ordered has no THC in it. It has CBD. It is legal in the US. I am hoping it will arrive today or tomorrow.

once again, not trying to encourage any activity that is less than legal, i have HEARD that it is one of the easiest plants to grow indoors with just the most basic of equipment (light spectrum, well drained soil, regular food/water) and i have also HEARD there is plenty of literature available if one were to test how green was their thumb. i'd guess that a 20'x20' room packed to the gills would draw a tremendous amount of official attention but a 2'x3' closet most likely totally ignored. come on folks, this moll hill is getting piled mighty high, you know?

@Lynne723 - I don't believe the CBD level was marked on the bottles. I'll check them, and if it's on there, I'll report back. They may have mentioned it, but the whole experience of being at the collective was so weird (armed security outside in the lobby, an employee leading you down the hall until you get to the "shop") that if they told me the CBD levels I didn't register them. Might have been on the menu too - the collective I visited assigns you a code and password to access the MM menu; there could be more detail there too.

@altoclef - your comment about my collective possibly being focused on "less than true medical business" - yes, exactly that. California is a liberal state, and LA is a liberal town. Put those two together and you get a lot of doctors viewing prospective MM clients, their diseases and symptoms in a generous light, I'm sure.
