They are roomy in the toe box and snug enough in the heel that they don't slip, but super cushioned.
Saw my podiatrist this week. He tries to avoid choosing one brand over another because we are all different, but when he saw them he gushed about them.
For work I switch between Sketchers, Shape Ups and sometimes the New Balance. I find the 'rocker like' bottoms work well on the hard tile floors for 8 hours a day. And swapping from one to another keeps any one part of my foot from getting too much pressure. They are also super thick cushioned underneith.

I buy New Balance sneakers for me, but they have to have the right frame, Wide toe, narrow heel. I think its the SL2 frame.
With the snow and ice on the ground I am back in my Red Wing workboots. they are heavy, but warm, waterproof and with a VERY wide toe box. I think if I put in a cushier foot pad that they'd be perfect. They just don't always look right with pantsuits. Fortunately, I now live in Alaska, so it doesn't seem so out of place.

I also do business casual at work. Don't give a flip that my black shape ups aren't 'cute' with my skirt. Granted being a science geek I'm not expected to be in style :)
I'm in it for comfort and have to wear close toes for safety. So shoes are a tad clunky and boxy looking. But dang they're comfy!
I still have pain no matter what. I am always anxious to hear about other's experiences with shoes in case they find some good ones.
