Methotrexate was my first med, but it didn't do enough for me. After about 4 months on it, I added Humira, and it helped so much! I almost felt normal again! Cuts and scratches took a little longer to heal, but that was the only noticeable side effect I had.

I initially stayed on MTX while on Humira. I finally got sick of feeling sick for 2-3 days a week, so with the doctor's blessing, I reduced the amount of MTX I was taking and finally stopped it altogether. I took just Humira for almost 10 years after that.

I had a great run with Humira. It was my wonder drug. But since it hadn't been working as well as it once did, we recently decided to switch to Enbrel. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

Before I started taking Humira, my doctor listened to my concerns and told me that out of all his patients who were on it, only two had reported serious side effects. Those people had allergic reactions, so they immediately stopped taking it. After hearing that, I took my first dose at the doctor's office just to be cautious, but I never had any bad side effects.

I've been on both Enbrel and Humira and both worked well but unfortunately stopped after about 2 years. Then Orencia - same.

After that I went on Xeljanz which worked well too until I had to go off it when I was hospitalzed with COVID. So I am now on Rinvoq and just added Plaquinel. Feeling good.

While each was working I was in total remission and my RA is very severe.

No side effects whatsoever from any of them. (MTX also made me nauseted and I'm almost went bald!) The biologicals are safe and now they have the oral biologicals. There's risk of infection with bios and with MTX, but I never had a cold or any other type of infeciton in all these many years on all these meds.

I took Enbrel once and it gave me the worst headache/migraine in my life, it lasted for days. My doctor wanted me to stick it out, hoping the headaches may decrease. They might have, but I was just not up to it. Most people don't have that issue!

I first started on Mtx approximately 25 years ago. It was changed to injectable approximately 15 years ago due to nausea. Recently I have had bad blood test results. The dosage was decreased which helped but finally the problems came back so they took me off it.

I was prescribed Enbrel approximately 18 years ago. It's worked very well for me alongside the Methotrexate. So currently I am on the Enbrel alone. I know it is effective as I was off that too for a few weeks as i had a tooth extracted. The RA flared bad but settled quite quickly after starting it again. Im still in pain, particularly after physical work but it is definitely better than nothing. These biological medications are amazing but as with all the RA meds we are at risk with infections. I've always got to the doctors as quick as I can if I think I have one so I've never had any problems. Good luck x
