Good Morning everyone. For the last few years I have not had much feeling in my hands. Neither heat nor cold. Then yesterday, that changed. Two fingers started to burn like crazy and by bed time, they all were burning. I look at them, and see nothing different. By morning, they were back to normal. Then when I get in the shower, the burning came back. Does anyone have any idea what this is? Thank you in advance for your help. I appreciate you all more than I can tell you.

i dont know if it is burning, but its a weird sensation i cant describe. i thought it was tingling like sensation. i noticed it 3-4 times in March during a flare. i noticed it when i washed my hands while cooking (especially when i touch something cold from refrigerator and then wash my hands). after that i didnt have that sensation. i didnt know why it happened.

i would like to know more answers from others too.

My feet do it every now and then, never have figured that out either. One of those great mysteries of life? I just want you to know you're not nuts.

Thanks Trish, I was beginning to think that I am nuts. Madhuri, I think I could handle the tingling but by bedtime last night they hurt so bad it was all I could do to get ready for bed. This is just plain weird. Thank you both for you answers. I see my Rhumy on Friday. I will ask him about it then (If I can remember that long).

It kind of sounds like shingles pain, so I'll bet it is nerve related. Write it down so you don't forget to tell your doctor. I hope you feel better soon!

Could it be a neuropathy? I know that was the reason my doctor checked me for diabetes. I had weird pain at the ends of my toes. I guess neuropathy in feet is common for diabetics. Some describe it as a burning sensation. I've not heard of it in fingers, though.

Do get it checked out, as soon as possible. I hope you get relief soon.

GrammyKat - If I pull my nurse card out, this sounds a lot like neuropathic pain, a.k.a. neuropathy. There are several treatment options and I would talk to your doc sooner rather than later. You don't want those nerve pathways to "learn" to be active all the time.

My hands are burning too. This started in my right hand about a week ago, now it's both hands. At first it was sort of mild, but it is now not so mild and it's pretty constant.

I can't see the rheumatologist until mid-September. i just wondering if anyone has any idea about what I can to calm it down.
