Me too ..thats weird BD honestly im selling my s.u.v rite now casue its to hard to get up into it :( luv my s.u.v. ...man these changes ..sorry grammykat ....this sucks !! i try not to say that word to often but it DOES .

It really sucks, I have that problem because of my knees. I had a girlfriend come over to pick me up for lunch. She brought a huge truck, I was so embarrassed that I couldn't get in that high truck. My wrists and about every joint is different. Plus the fact, getting down from that truck would have really hurt. Can you imagine the impact on your poor leg joints hitting the pavement. Ouch!

YEP, me too. My sister has a big tall truck, and when she picked me up recently, I couldn't get in it by myself - it took TWO people to shove my butt up in there, LOL!

On the other hand, my husband has a sedan - it is close to the ground and I can't get out of it by myself either. It requires too much leg strength to pull myself up and out.

So it's like Golidlocks - my Ford Edge is "just right" - not too high up, not too close to the ground - so I can get in and out with "relative" ease (in quotes b/c getting in and out of any vehicle is challenging).

As far as how quickly this happened, I don't know - but I can definitely relate to weakness coming on pretty rapidly.

Hugs to you, I know how difficult it is adjusting to things we used to be able to take for granted!

i dont want to sound like a broken record ..but today i was thinking of all teh changes ..more then a realized :(:(:(:( grammykat , not sure if it helps our not ..but very understandable ..i was thinkign i should keep a small portabel step stool with me ..but still selling s.u.v. ...goodluck to you and dont fall out of teh rig .

Thank you all for your answers. Now I know why we got rid of the SUV a few months ago and bought a crossover. It's lower than the suv but higher than a sedan. It's just right. Now I need to come to terms with another thing I used to do that I can't do any more. Gosh this list is getting longer and longer.....

Yes I think we all have life changes that are making us crazy. My 78 yr old mother can get up and walk away faster than I can and I'm 44. I get up and hobble til I get going! Luckily I have a car so I'm not having to sell or trade until I cant get up out of it anyways!

Yes. This has happened to me, too. I was to go to lunch with my co-workers. My boss drove a big truck. I was so embarrassed. Didn't think that I would get in.

It is worse because I look good. They don't get the level of disability I have.

Sucks.

Well the good news is I had forgotten that I had taken MTX the night before and it was weakness caused by that. I was able to get into the truck that weekend to go get firewood. I have to be able to do that. We heat our home with wood.

Oh yeah, I have had this happen to me too! Once I was sort of stabilized on my meds, I was able to join an exercise class in a warm pool. It helped a lot with the strength.
I have been driving a Corvette. There have been times when I can't get in or out at all! It is a good thing that I don't wear short skirts anymore. I am going to have to sell it, I need a minivan with a scooter in the back.

You know, my husband had to medically retire and for years we joked about getting a motorcycle like the one we had when we were younger. We always laugh and say , oh yeah, we'll get one with a side car for me to ride in. Well, I told him the other day, since my dx of RA, Hey, let's get a hoveround and put a side car on that. Lol Gotta laugh. Prayers

I'll count my blessings, for me it depends on the days going.
I sure get it though.
My sister turned her truck in for an SUV then SUV in for a car.
With auto start so she could actually start it. She no longer could grasp & turn the key.
I guess we should avoid trucks as we are looking to trade our SUV in.
