Sometimes my brain fog really frightens me because it seems more serious than just silly things. I don't talk about it on here much but I worry about it. I have been taking my son to physical therapy every week at the same time for months and one day I couldn't remember what time he was suppose to be there. I couldnt retrieve the information from my brain no matter how hard I tried. I struggle every week to remember that my son has school Monday - thursday every night and that every Monday and Wednesday nights my grandson comes over to be watched. It really puzzles me why these mundane yet consistent activities won't stick in my head for longer than a day. Once someone reminds me, I have complete clarity of information, but my brain sure seems really scrambled. I have a hard time coming up with the names for things, words often find themselves missing from my sentences when I am talking, and yet there are other moments when I seem like the old me and I don't have so much struggle with my memory. This sure makes a huge blow to my already damaged self esteem from this disease.

OT---I just rememberd...not pun intended....that often when I am trying to tell my husband something, I cannot think of the right word. That is scary. Some days are better than other, but it is frightening.

Sometimes it is the meds that causes the brain fog. I take
Toprol XL for hypertension. One of my doctors increased my dose and my brain was really scrambled. I walked around in a stupor, couldn't think straight or communicate well...until I cut my dose back a little. Now I am fine...at least I think I am (lol). I intend to talk to my PCP about it when I see him in a couple of weeks.

Just last night... My friend on the phone: "What are you doing?" Me: "I just took a loratab. I mean a lorazapam. I mean an ativan and I'm going to bed."
This is a mild one for me. It can be so embarrassing. I can't spell anymore either. I love auto-correct :)

In a text conversation with my daughter last week (no, I don't remember what it was about) she answered my incoherent question with "had to take your Vicodin again didn't ya?"
MT..How many people knew your underwear was inside out ;0).
OT, I know exactly how you feel. I cried for an hour when I couldn't remember which tooth brush was mine and I use it twice a day and there were only 2 to choose from.

Hmmm loss of correct wordsnames OMG?! My kids are getting tired of me asking the same questions all the time.like "What time do you leave for practice?" the time hasn't changed in months. Yep brain fog feels like dementia sometimes.
Scary thing is I'm not on any pain killers!

So since I am being totally honest with you guys and no one has called the paddy wagon to pick me up, I was on the phone yesterday with the pediatricians office making an appt for the wrong child to have an MRI of his head on Monday. They kept telling me he was not scheduled for an MRI and I kept telling them I knew he was as I had the appt time. Poor kids, do you think they are safe with me as their mom?

This is the first I have heard of memory problems with RA... THANK YOU! I have such a difficult time with memory. I can repeat a name or thing dozens of times in effort to put it in my long term storage...and within minutes... I forget I was even trying to remember something. I am quite intelligent (or was) and people don't believe me. Now this fucking disease has cost me my relationship. I am completely suicidal as I cannot see any way to live without support...care taker. I look totally fine. I used to be an athelete...so I can put on a brave face and keep up for awhile... then I go into hiding to recover. I find it totally unfair that this disease hits us...and then there is such a difficult time for other people to understand what we are going through. so so so unfair
