you always have to call the insurance company to make sure the procedure/medication is covered...some of the RA and Fibro drugs are not covered and you end up with the bill. it sucks, but its true. and the docs/hosp wont tell you, they just want their money.

My 2 rituxan treatments come close to $40,000, so it appears your insurance has paid something. I am assuming you had a deductable and a copay? Usually you have to pay 20% once your deductable is met until you reach your maximum out of pocket expenses. All policies are different on deductables and out of pocket limits. I do know that rituxan has a program to help with your copays, so why not call your rheumy to get the paperwork startd? Your rhuemy should have done that before you ever got your first treatment. Since I am on medicare and a health supplement I don't need that assistance because supplement picks up what medicare dioesn't cover. I do know a program exists for those with insurance. So get on the horn and demand some answers and help! Good luck.

Just wanted to let some of you know that I am on Remicade and yes I do have insurance that covers it, but my infusion nurse told me that Remicade wants patients that need it to be able to get it, and that they have a wonderful program for people who can't affor the co-pay or don't have insurance....just a thought.
Everyone deserves to get the meds they need with out getting on food stamps...ugh.

Darn American Healthcare....all about the$$$

I had the infusions in July with no bills to follow. And each time my doctors office called to get pre authorization, so I am not sure what the issue is. I see the doc on April 4th so I will talk to the office manager at that time.

I was on the Orencia help plan before medicare and orencia sent me a mastercard with $3000 at a time to cover my deductable and out of pocket expenses. I woulodn't wait to see your doctor. Look up rituxans 800 number on the internet and get the ball rolling yourselff.

Are you on Medicare? Have a insurance company through Medicare?
If so it's a totally different ball game. Anyone that has a insurance company from Medicare, don't have to pay extra. The hospital has to except what Medicare paid them. Then you don't owe nothing, only the co-pay.
This is only for certain things of course.
