I've read several stories and posts about possible triggers for RA and have seen 'infections' listed many times. I've also seen that some folks take long-term antibiotics to try and 'kill' whatever is inside them.

Researchers at Texas A&M found that bacteria have the ability to go dormant and 'hide'' from the antibiotics, a form of survival. Seems antibiotics can only kill metabolically active bacteria. When the bacteria are stressed (like when antibiotics are chasing them), they can go to sleep and then 'wake up' later. The researchers note that if they can figure out how to wake up the bacteria, they can kill it. It's all connected with proteins making ability in the cell (mRNA). This is a whole new idea and is different that bacteria mutating genetically to become resistant to antibiotics.
Maybe this could provide a whole new way of looking at infection and inflammation... or preventing it altogether. On a personal note, I've often thought that bacteria were 'hiding' inside me at times. Maybe they were!

I think the antibotics help do that for me and therefore will continue on them. I know this is a contreversal method of treatment, but for those that believe RA is bacteria induced it makes sense.
I think that makes a lot of sense. It's better to be safe than sorry. I may talk to my doctor about this too. He is hard to talk to though because he is foreign and doesn't show much compassion. I may have to end up finding another doctor soon. I will see how these infusions go.
