Back to my RA hat again

Some of you know that, as well as being diagnosed with severe, aggressive RA at the beginning of January, a CT scan the Rheumy ordered showed up a tumour on my right kidney.
Today I was wearing my kidney hat. to see my Urologist for the results of the latest kidney ultrasound four months down the track. He was running an hour late with appointment and it was a very long hour, I can tell you. The tumour is unchanged in size, I have another Ultrasound in 6 months and see him again then. So, Im not any further ahead but it was good news, I think. .
The Urologist was telling us his mother had suffered RA since she was young and in his words.It's a bugger of a thing. Go after it and treat it as aggressively as you can."

So now, for the next six months I'm back to my RA hat and doing exactly that.

When it comes to tumors, no change is good news!

I am sure you would like to hear smaller in size or no tumour, but like Bistro says, no change and being stable has to be a good thing.

It's kind of refreshing when you meet someone who knows how bad RA is, I am referring to the comment the urologist made. You know how some people just have no clue.

You are a tough cookie. Keep on fighting lady.

Last year when I had my foot reconstructed, I had to ask for permission to take one of my exams late. The prof said his wife had RA, on mthx and Enbrel. He said he understood and told me take take as much time as I needed. Compassion is a wonderful thing.

The urologist was right - be aggressive and don't take no for an answer with your rheumie. I wish you the best, and that your tumor stays the same.

My GP told me she has a family member with RA and that she understood how it's upsetting to look good on the outside and to be actually feeling crappy. DANG- why doesn't my RD who has been a dr. for 44 years understand? I would think he's seen enough and heard enough of patient complaints to know and understand.

But the real reason I wrote was to say - hang in there! Glad there was no change in the tumor and get on with kicking some RA butt!
