Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...

I am doing fairly well from day to day, still on sulfadine and meloxicam and things are going well. Not from the start but after I got this under control I started waking with some hand stiffness and occasional swelling, It starts out that way in the am then come and goes as it wants.
Just causes a little problems at times with fine motor skills but Iget through it. If that is all I suffer from I am lucky.
But I keep getting this picture in my mind, that even though it is minimal I see this little RA packman guy eating at my joints causing this to deteriorate unitl its gone. Is that how this RA works? If you are having pain and bad movement is the disease eating away at that particular joint which will eventually be the area you loose most of you movement in.
I will be doing Thanksgiving dinner here for my family. So cleaning and shopping and cooking is my list for this week. I am going to take it slow and with hubby's help I have my pacing my self plan ready to go.
While we are all at different levels and I know until we all experience it all, its hard to imagine how and what we can do and feel within our own disease level, but I do know there are lots worse things and lots of better things but we have to be thankful for all we can do on good days and the love and help and support on the bad days. When I went through the worst I never thought I would be doing what I CAN do now again. I was so depressed and crying and homebound. In a few days we leave for Williamsburg and I never never thought I would do that so it is positive to have hope and work to get back what you can. So I will be thankful for all the improvement and the information and support this group and others have given.
So, I hope you all have a great Turkey Day!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Renee

From what I understand, yes, the joints get affected with pain and also depending in lab results. I know what you mean, I was way worse 9 months ago and never thought I would improve. I stil have daily pains, but not compared with before I went on enbrel. And I constantly wonder what will happen in the future. I too was an emotional wreck months ago, crying all the time, in such despair. I am thankful for having some improvement. But now today, with our weather change, I had a bad day at work. I just tell myself, it will pass and I can get through this. I tell myself, god only gives you what you can deal with. It helps sometimes...anyway, I hope you have a good thanksgiving and we will all give thanks for what we have today...erica

Hi! I love your description of the RA Packman eating away at our joints. Maybe another visual would be good to keep in mind - that of all the RA drugs fighting off the Packman. I think one of the most difficult aspects of RA is the unknown. But truly, that is the case with so many diseases. I have only been diagnosed a little over a year and have done pretty well on the meds, but who knows what will happen next. I think we have to be very grateful we are living with this disease at a time when there are more treatment options and hope to be offered to us. Take care of yourself and have a wonderful time in Williamsburg.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
