Can you put them on a chain and wear as a necklace? I had to have my rings cut off twice so I don't wear them anymore as the jeweler said it wouldn't be wise to re-size them for a third time.

Suera, I had to have my rings made larger more than a couple times, and this last time, all new gold band was put on the back half. It looks nice, and means I can wear it about 60% of the time. My rings are over 40 years old, so almost all of the prongs have had to be replaced. The back half of my band is new...... Except for the diamond, there sure isn't much left of the original ring.

I've been trying to figure out what to do with my rings. My hubby never takes his ring off...ever. Yet I hardly wear mine! HAHAHA We're go backwards. Of course, the swelling is why I can't wear them. Trying to convince the hubs I "need" a new set so I can preserve the originals....he's not buying into it though. Silly me!

I just removed my rings earlier this week. I hope that I'll be able to wear them again when the swelling goes down, or I'll try resizing them.

I had my dad's diamond tie tack made into a pendant that I can wear as a necklace. Perhaps that can be done with a ring. The stone, setting and all, might be removed, and then made to accommodate a chain. Just an idea.

I have three rings that I use as my wedding ring depending on the state of my hands. A funny story is that a friend of mind (who never quite "got it") broke her wrist. I heard no end of her troubles with the wrist, the pain, the discomfort, the swelling, the doctor visits.... And, then she started to complain about not being able to wear her wedding ring. I told her about my three rings that I use depending the state of my hands. And, I think for the first time she got a bit of a glimpse into my world. Funny how that happens.

I'm a ring nut with engagement rings being my specialty. I have tried just about everything out there (including all those listed below). I had posted about the options a year or is it two already but I don't think they save posts from that long ago. Since then I have tried a few more options anyway so here it goes. Forgive my verbosity but like I said - I'm a ring nut.

Most of the options require getting the ring sized for the largest your knuckle will be (or in my case even the base of the finger) and then introducing some method to keep them in place. Most of the price ranges below don't include adding the same metal type to your ring to increase it's size which usually varies day to day with the price of gold variations.

Also note not all rings can be sized. Even the most expert jeweler can't take a diamond pave band and turn it from a size 7 to a size 10 or visa versa and not have the gems fall out or be crushed. Likewise if you have a design that goes all around the band (ie this gorgeous Jabel ring - http://s.ecrater.com/stores/109617/4cd35bad33bcd_109617n.jpg) many of these options can detract from the look of the ring or greatly decrease it's value. However, I completely understand sentiments and the desire to wear them.

Please also note the prices are just what I ended up paying. It might not be the price you can get. Some are do it yourself and others you need a skilled jeweler. I can't guarantee anyone else's work or use of these items, so use these at your own risk of possibly damaging your beloved treasures (I know rather dramatic but I foolishly entrusted one of my rings to an unskilled jeweler!).
