Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
Sending thoughts of comfort your way! I know how you must feel. I, too, am 27 years old and I have already had 6 surgeries and 2 other anesthetic procedures. I had 2 of the surgeries in the last 6 months alone! I felt like an old pro after being put under anesthesia so many times already in my young life, but I have to admit, the butterflies were still there!
I hope you have a loved one with you. If so, take solace in knowing that they love you and are there for you, no matter what! The recovery of a major surgery is never easy, but it is much easier when you face it head on. Determine in your mind that you are going to be fine and that you will do all your doctors tell you needs to be done to have a good recovery.
Remember, we are here to help support you when you need some place to "vent". Fingers crossed that all goes better than expected tomorrow morning!
The most important advice... Even if you can't sleep tonight, set a bed time and stick to it! Your body (although "asleep" during anesthetic) still needs a good night of rest PRIOR to your surgery to help ensure the smoothest recovery possible. Try some relaxation techniques tonight such as deep breathing or meditation. If someone is with you, ask them to give you a shoulder, neck and back massage (this always works for me!) and then get straight into bed. Don't get up no matter how restless you feel. Eventually your mind will allow you to get to sleep.
Good luck!
Don't be afraid.....
Of course with any surgery there will be recovery time, but you are young and you will heal quickly .
Do as the nurses and doctors say, do the excercises or after care therapy they suggest and you will be just fine ok
My friend just recently had her knee done and is doing just so well . It is amazing what they can do now
Thinking of you ok ---and by the way it is normal to feel nervous. They willtake good care of you .
Touch base with us when you can
thinking of you this evening and sending good thoughts to you - you will be fine.
Being "ascared" is natural and all involved are aware of the feelings. The folks helping you know just what to do to make you comfortable and help you through this.
If you can't sleep tonight, then get a good book and curl up in a comfy cozy chair with your fur baby and I bet you drop off. If not catch an old movie on the tube.
You are in our prayers.
Peace

Surgery is always scary.
Think positive.
I will share, have a family friend who went through the same months ago. She is happy she did so.
No more pain or knee giving out.
She has not one regret.
I hope the same for you.
You deserve relief & if it's one less beast of burden then perhaps this surgery is a very good thing.
Please let me know how it goes.
You'll be in my prayers & thoughts.
Sammy
