Haven't tried it mtx has worked for me. But I do want to say welcome you are definitely amongst friends here. I have learned more than going to the doctor from real with people with real experiences. No question to dumb to ask and no rant from frustration judged. Welcome. Trish

Welcome! I think it is great that Enbrel is working so fast. I did not have any meds work that fast, but we all respond differently.
I am with Trisha, I have learned more here than from Doctors.

Regarding the Enbrel response - I can't speak from personal experience, but I have definitely heard of people having pretty quick response. Sending best wishes that you keep getting relief.

i feel happy welcoming the new ones, but i am really surprised to see atleast 4-5 new bees a week joining here. how RA is attacking people........................i hate that.

Welcome Kristen. I am new to this group too. I am in the process of blood work. The RA negative. Dr says RA is creeping on. I had a horrible flare that crippled me head to toe. I was scared, as it never happened before. My pcp put me on a prednisone pack that was a miracle. I went to rheumy and awaiting lab results. I am on an anti inflammatory which is not doing too much. Hope this new treatment works for you. Stay positive

I take Enbrel and it worked quickly for me. The very next day after my first shot I felt like my RA was gone. I have been taking it for about a year and a half now. Sometimes I had to go off for other reasons.

Hi Kristen,
I was diagnosed last summer. Started methotrexate with no results. Added sulfasalazine, and plaquinil. My RA was so aggressive that they started Enbrel within 3 months of diagnosis (have stayed on the other meds as well). I really took a turn for the better within a couple of weeks of taking my first Enbel shot. It is a Godsend. Have since cut back on the methotrexate with no negative results, and I think that's what my doc has in mind...to try to reduce the other medications slowly.

Welcome to the group. I don't post a lot, but I find much comfort in reading posts from all of the wonderful people on here... the good and the bad. It really helps me to understand this disease, and my mind-set with it.

My mom had RA from age 38 to when she died at 82. There were many days that she was in great pain, and she had much deformity in various parts of her body. I would see her wince often, but she never really complained, and always tried to maintain a positive attitude. That is my aspiration: to try to remain positive and live my life with RA the best that I can.

Hi again Kristen, I have been on several biologics and the first one was Humira. I remember as soon as I started on that one I felt wonderful. It lasted all of about 8 months then I crashed and had a major flare and was moved onto another one. Hope Enbrel continues to work for you. Good luck with it.

Hi there! Great place to ask questions. No matter what you are going through, someone will come up with some small (or major) suggestion.

We know how this disease actually feels and how it is to live with it day in and out, even once in a while to forget about it - which medicos rarely do.

And I find it gives me context. For example just reading through your answers there is Sally's mother who had it for around forty years! At the beginning diagnosis can feel like a major life curtailer because of the pile of drugs, fear, uncertainty, drug reactions and on and on.
