I'm really down. I'm having a very bad shingles outbreak (I have chronic shingles, have had them about 7 months). I've had to stop taking plaquenil so that my immune system can work on the shingles. I have shingles on my face, in my eyes, my back and shoulders and elbows, and my butt. Some of them are infected. I am now on antivirals all the time and antibiotics for the infection. They are going to keep me on the antivirals long term this time. Anyway, I am feeling miserable and depressed and scared. All kind words will be appreciated.

Wish I could give you a hug, sound like you need one ( ) this is the arms wrapping around you! So awfully sorry to hear about shingles, my sister had them once and they lasted for about a month and I know how miserable she was, I hate to think of 7 months. Can't give any sage advice here, but know I am sending good thought's your way. Trish

Oh no Twyliah, did not know you were going through this. I am so sorry. Shingles and RA are no joke. Oh my goodness. Hope you are on the mend soon. You must be so uncomfortable!! Please feel better soon. Sending blessings your way.

I'm sending soothing, comforting, soft beams your way. I have never had shingles, but I have watched my mom and some friends go through the torture. One friend would lay in a cool bath with oatmeal. She said it helped her feel better at least while she was in the bath.

Thank you, every one if you, for your well-wishes, your prayers, and your kind words. It is just what I needed! I really, really, really appreciate each of you. If any of you have advice or know how someone with RA and shingles got through, I would love to know.

I feel blessed beyond belief to be part of this group right now. You all have been amazing with the support. I really need it and it is helping more than you know. I am just resting today, trying to let my body conserve energy for fighting off the shingles. My girls have gone to a local football game, so I'm having some "just me" time. I'm feeling slightly more optimistic today.

Hi Twyliah,
I've never had shingles, but I'm very familiar with the particular type of hell that nerve pain causes. When I have an attack of it, I imagine a cool blue gel pouring down over my body and putting out the fire in my nerves. That's what I'm sending you- cool blue gel with magic shingles- healing power! Hope you're on the mend soon.

I very sorry for your pain. I sure wish I could offer you some advice on how to deal with shingles pain but, unfortunately, I cannot.
