Rhabdomyosarcoma Support Group
Rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of cancer, specifically a sarcoma (cancer of connective tissues), in which the cancer cells are thought to arise from skeletal muscle progenitors. It can also be found attached to muscle tissue, wrapped around intestines, or anywhere, to include the neck area. It is most common in children ages one to five, and teens aged 15 to 19.

Hello everyone. My daughter was just diagnosed with rhabdo. I thought I could use some people who have "been there". She is going in for a bunch of scans tomorrow and we should know more about her staging, but we currently think she is stage 2. We are expecting 1 year of chemo with 4-6 weeks of radiation in about 4 weeks.
Has anyone had a similar experience? We have an 8 yo son as well. We are planning on telling him tonight or tomorrow. Does anyone have any book recommendations or any other words of wisdom?
Thank you in advance.

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
I'm really sorry about your daughter's diagnosis. It sounds like they caught it relatively early and that's really good news. I am one of the very rare adults with rhabdo. They found mine when it was already Stage IV. I am a 37 year-old mom living in Northern California. I am married and have a two year-old son. I have been battling this disease since 2010. It's been really difficult, but I am fighting this and believe strongly that I will be healed. My advice is to build up a network of support through friends and family. Tell people what you need and accept their help. You can't do this alone. We found a website called Lots of Helping Hands that has been a huge help. It offers a calendar for people to sign up to bring meals, offer rides, grocery shop (you design it to your personal needs). It's been great, because so many people will say please call me if you need anything--but that's too general. You need tangible help. This also, makes people feel really good to be able to sign up and do something specific to help you. I am praying for you and your family. You will get through this and be okay.
