Retried Anxiety and Depression Community Group
60 years old and retired 2 years ago. After the retirement "honeymoon period" been struggling with intense anxiety and depression. I have no clue what to do with my life. I realize the anxiety/depression are compounded as I sit home and do nothing, but they are causing me to not want to do anything. I have to believe others are experiencing the same; thus this group!

As my group's description sumarized, I have found my self struggling 2 years into my retirement. I was feeling "crazy" and all-alone but after talking with my counselor - and internet research - I have found that this is normal. I have found a number of "textbook answers" as to how to overcome this, but they just dont land at the core of the extreme/helpless feelings I have. In other words, if it were as easy as a textbook-answer then the problem wouldnt be so big. I am assuming there are others out there who have found themselves in a similiar situation and are looking for people to journey with!?
One key thing I have learned/experienced is that as the depression/anxiety snuck in over the last 2 years I was spending a lot of time blaming my mental state on the result of the past 40 years of life challenges/failures/stress leaving me in an almost PTSD state of mind. The primary reason this thinking has taken over is because after 40 years I have PLENTY of time to bounce those thoughts around in my skull!! Couple that with the hopelessness (temporary I hope) of my future and I arrived at a desperate dead-end.
Again; I am hoping there are others out there who would want to journey out of this muck and move forward together!

When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...
