Despite everything, even in the darkest of times I've usually managed to cling to some shred of optimism and some bit of humor, even if it was just dark and bizarre humor that only I found funny!
I've forced myself to do what I thought was right or important despite being terribly frightened.
I kept the promises I made to myself as a little kid about things I would never do or say to my kids.
A friend of mine pointed out that I empathize well. "You deeply feel others' pain," she said. I argued that I was so self-absorbed that I was oblivious to anyone else but she pointed out numerous times when this was not true. She also reminded me of my reaction to a terrible family crisis of hers, how when she told me, my immediate reaction was to cry. She goes around the country training volunteers at crisis pregnancy centers and she always tells that story as an example of compassion and how powerfully healing it is when we live out the verse "Weep with those who weep." I had no idea. So maybe she is right.

I am good at mediating situations. I can figure out what each person really wants and then I help them to come up with a compromise.
I am really good at communicating with my son and always have been.
People can depend on me.
