This took me by surprise, but I think I have a solution too.
This year, there is some resistance to the arrangement of a sweatlodge for women being run by a male (James). The resistance is not based on any precedent, incident or issue, just on changes in policies in insurance and rental agreements for the grounds. Nobody has expressed ANY personal issue with a man running a sweatlodge, but in today's risk-management culture companies that sponsor insurance and rental agreements are being (in my opinion) overly-defensive. Which means that without James there would be no sweatlodge.
But I may have a solution. James and I are meeting Wednesday to build the lodge together, and I'll have to bring this up with him. It'll hurt his feelings, but I can explain it's not personal, it's just ever-stricter policies I have to accommodate. But James' partner, Angie, runs sweats for women! (and is a survivor herself)
So I plan to approach James and Angie and ask if James will build us the lodge like before, and that Angie run the ceremonies for us. It would mean James wouldn't be present, and some of you will be disappointed because you've known and trusted him for two prior years. But I would still be there, of course, and you'd have a "woman's sweat" run by another female. That may also hush some of the inevitable "mosquitoes" who get off on stirring up drama with their own prejudices about any man doing work like this with "women victims" (I'm not saying that there have been any, but somewhere in the world there's always someone with a chip on their shoulder who wants to gripe).
Hopefully, James and Angie are agreeable to this. I think it's a good solution, so nothing unexpected will prevent us from enjoying one of the most significant parts of the weekend.

Matt, if it comes down to it, I would rather have you run it than not be able to do it at all.
It is a good thing I am driving myself..I can stop whenever I need to....depends....when you are only "30" you are too young for depends....Judy...you are not old!
