I'm not sure this is even possible, but I think there is a way I, as the founder, can change the name of any group.
I wonder if our group has evolved to needing another name?
When I first created this group, it was conceived as a way for people to interact with the author of a book and do Q/A about it. But the group has become so much more than that! This group is NOT about a book, it's NOT "Matt's group", and it's not oriented around me at all--which I like. I also notice that we have a lot of members here because they feel comfortable and appreciate the group bond and health, but they may not be rape survivors themselves. Our group tends to be remarkably welcoming, and I have never seen any hint of exclusion based on "so-and-so isn't a rape survivor; she is s/he doing here?" We have among us survivors of emotional abuse, domestic violence, stroke, infant loss, family suicide, spiritual crisis, body dysmorphic disorder, borderline personality disorder, substance abuse, and many other things. I'm wondering if "Resurrection After Rape" is too specific a group title? What about all those seeking recovery from many other things?
It's not something I insist on, but please discuss this: does our group name encapsulate what it should as it is, or would we benefit from a slightly broadened name? And if so, what do you suggest? After all, this is YOUR group, not mine, and I'd appreciate the input.

I have been wondering recently whether we would get the same support from other suvivours of trauma and whether there is a need to be exclusive but I do think that some issues are fairly unique to rape survivours as is the identification and D.S does have loads of other groups including trauma based groups. I'm just thinking out loud here by the way...

Has anyone expressed that they feel excluded because the word rape is in the name? I know this group will take that seriously, if so, because we don't want anyone feeling left out! I just don't think a name change is the fix needed for that.
