Resurrection After Rape Community Group
Discussion, question-and-answer, general social support, and journal processing for progress-oriented rape survivors. No crisis, no damaging or triggering conflicts--this is for individuals who want to contribute to collective, cooperative action toward the goal of making actual PROGRESS through rape trauma. Much of this work is based on the book "Resurrection After...
I haven't got the book so this is based on amazon but I think I wrote.. (can't say for certain because page isn't available to view now..) What I hate about this journey/healing/being a survivor (cannot remember which analogy i was using). Then the next paragraph was supposed to read What I _love_ about (rest of sentence plus something about philosophers)
But no, now I have 2 paragraphs of hate and it doesn't make sense. Can you make me make sense please??
I did notice that you used the sentence "The thing I hate about being on this journey is that we have to ask the big questions" in both paragraphs, but it seems like you're just reiterating the point. If I were to omit the second instance, though, it does help further change the tone from "what I hate..." to the more victoriously-sounding, "we are the warriors, the great historical philosphers," etc. Would you like me to strike the second refrain of that sentence, then?
Back then I was in a place of love and hate towards the healing process. I was doing a lot of work that involved looking deep into myself. I hated what that meant but i was also really liking how that was changing my view of the world.
I've read your second paragraph eight times..it makes no sense to me; i am officially stupid this eve. can you please ask me with small words? *blush*
"The thing I hate about being on this journey is that we have to ask the big questions. We have to go into battle to face our demons. I hate that. I wish I could just hand that part off to my therapist…believe me, I have tried to more than once!
"The thing I hate about being on this journey is that we have to ask the big questions. We are the warriors, the great historical philosophers, the ones who won’t be told by someone else what reality is. We search for the truth. We seek out the pains of life and then we sheet them down. And we do so at our most vulnerable times. It is very easy to philosophize at times of peace, but to do this in a time of turmoil is a sign of our great strength."
Notice how you start both paragraphs with the same sentence. But the second paragraph is actually better off without it, because it's not a paragraph about frustration, it's about heroism. What I'm suggesting is that if you allow me to simply remove the first sentence of the second paragraph, it A) solves the problem of repeating yourself, B) makes better sense in context, and C) achieves the contract you want between the parts you hate and the positive stuff you love.
