Restless Legs Syndrome Support Group
Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) may be described as uncontrollable urges to move the limbs in order to stop uncomfortable, painful or odd sensations in the body, most commonly in the legs. Often sufferers think they are the only ones to be afflicted by this peculiar condition and are relieved when they find out that many others also suffer from it.
Having a trial period of doing without the chocolate may be the thing to do...you could be suddenly having an reaction to it ..good luck and keep us informed
Hello Friends...I stopped all chocolate consumption after posting. Thanks for your feedback. The only caffeine I have is 1 cup of coffee with breakfast.
Since the 15th, my legs have been okay.

Thanks Friends for your encouragement. Here's a hug.
Boy do I miss chocolate. I was hoping I could take it or leave it, but it's one of those sweets I still crave. Boo-Hoo. At least the legs stopped aching.

My legs (the whole leg) start aching around 7pm. It's almost like my legs have their own clock. I started taking Tramadol 50mg @ 6:30pm, to try to avoid the aches, but last night--almost on the hour--my legs started aching at 7. I had 12oz of coffee with breakfast, but I'm guessing that's still too much. So, this breakfast (5-12), I had 8oz. Gotta wait until 7pm to find out if I'm still drinking too much.
I bet I am. Tomorrow, I'm gonna only drink 4oz (half cup), until I can totally stop. I don't dare go cold turkey. I've had caffeine headaches, and they hurt like a son-of...you know. By Wed, I'll be totally caffeine free. If that doesn't help the legs...I don't know what will. I'm taking Iron Elixir, Magnesium, Folic Acid, Potassium, and I've been told by my doc that my B'v's are okay. Also have a feeling I wouldn't be able to take any of the Parkinson drugs, as they cause hallucinations. That's what Lyrica did to me.
Soooo...I'll post on 5/15, and report on the 8oz & 4oz & none.
Thanks, friends, for all your encouragement .
PS: 200mg of Ibuprofen helps about 20 minutes after taking it, but I'm afraid to take a second one, as I have stomach issues.
Chocolate is a lovely memory.

In the morning and 3mg early evening. Through trial and error I too noticed when I ate chocolate after dinner and after I took my pill, the RLS would still manifest itself and I would have to walk the night away. But if I ate a little chocolate early afternoon, the RLS was controlled by my meds.
I noticed that you said "sugar free" pudding. One of my triggers I found out was diet soda. The chemicals that they use for artificial sweeteners made my RLS REALLY bad. I stopped eating anything having an artificial sweetener (specifically diet soda) and it's had a very noticeable improvement in my symptoms.
I've had RLS since grade school, so I've been able to tell that this was not a fluke. It's been almost a year since I stopped having diet soda and i'm much better overall.
Anyway, just a thought. Since they use some of the same sweeteners in both products, it might be worth considering.
Like some, I also started having RLS when I was in grade school and I didn't understand what was going on. I had an abusive, bully sister five years older than me who came down on me hard because of it. Of course, she would find any reason to be abusive to me. So I was so ashamed of it and scared of her that I tried to hide it. IMPOSSIBLE. So I isolated myself sometimes just to hide it.
Now that there is a diagnosis for it, I don't feel so crazy.
Like other posters on this site have stated, if I keep my legs cool at night it helps. If I get too warm sometimes I have to put my feet and calves in a tub of cold water and slosh them around for awhile. That really helps symptoms subside.
My symptoms are exacerbated by the slightest things. Like if I let my warm puppy lay on my lap for too long, or if I have my laptop on my lap for too long, or if I elevate my legs for too long. At least these things I can control. But sometimes symptoms still pop up out of the blue....then it is time for a cold foot soaking and turning the A/C down.
I'm new to this particular forum, but have been with DS for a couple of months on other forums. DS has been a life saver for me in many ways. It is a great way to converse with those who have the same issues.
