Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) Support Group
Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.
Your thoughts and prayers are needed for Rebel (Brooke). She had surgery on Friday which has not gone as expected.
She asked that I update everyone here
Brooke went in for her 7th surgery on October first, it was to remove her left fallopian tube and ovary. She was also to have exicision and cutting of the nerves on her uterus. Unforunately the endometriosis had moved the main atery from her leg that connects in the abdomen area. Since they didn't know it moved/couldnt see it they accidently cut it. Brooke lost 3 litres of blood (when the body only has 5) and needed 9 blood transfusions and was then put on a ventilator. She has a 10cm cut on her stomach along with other inicisions where they tried and successfully saved her life. Her abdomen filled with blood and to the doctors they have NO idea how she survived, they thought she was going to pass away on the operating table. The vasuclar surgeon has told her unless her arms and legs do not stop being numb he will have to operate to put in a splint. She is now also fighting an infection.
Please send through all the prayers in the world, she is not out of the woods yet and is still in ICU in a stable but critical condition.

thank you so much for putting this on the board, i have passed this along to others i know from DS.. This is a time we need to all stick togeather and send all the prayers,strength, love and support we have to a sweet friend who was always there for all of us here, now it's our turn to give back..

Brooke is set to recieve her 10th blood transfusion as her haemoglobian, potassium and magnesium levels are dangerously low. Your love and support and prayers are keeping her going, she says thankyou

Brooke is going in now for an operation as they have found a blood clot in her left leg after it went completely numb.
I could sense she was scared on the phone as one would be after the first operation. She told me I might not hear from her for a couple of days.
Please keep praying!
Brooke was put into a Coma they removed 3 clots. She is still in a critical condition and has a ventilator in to help her breathe and has lots of tubes in her (not too sure what that means).
Poor thing, her message didn't make much sense so I told her to rest up and I'll chat to her when she's feeling better.

This is the latest update (from Taters).
As of today Brooke has had 14 blood transfusions, one plasma transfusion and 1 platelet transfusion. Her heamoglobin dropped suddenly overnight and they are worried. She's just had another CT scan as her legs are hurting where they took out the 3 blood clots yesterday. .
Brooke is urging everyone to donate blood for people who need it.
