Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.

Partial Nephrectomy scheduled

I am new to this board. I am scheduled for a partial neglecting Jan 29, 2018. I only have one kidney from birth and have rcc in it. Has anyone in here had a partial with only one kidney. They are also doing an open surgery thru the side and back.

Good luck with your surgery. I hope all goes well. I had a robotic partial nephrectomy on March 29, 2017. I do have both of my kidneys though. I still worry that it will come back but my 6 month CT scan came back clear so I feel a little better about that.

I had my partial last year 3/29/17.
For me they got all the cancer and I will soon be going for my yearly check up. Mine was stage 2.

I had nerve pain from where they hit a nerve other than that I wasnt in pain as long as I listened to my restrictions.

No pain, full nephrectomy 2012, fingers toes crossed, all clear!!
In hospital 2 days!

Thanks so much for your prayers and good thoughts! God is good and He has been with me in all my cancers. This is my 4th and all have been operable. No chemo, radiation just once. To God be the glory, great things He has done!
