Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) Support Group
Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.
So I have started a new chemo treatment optdivo. Anyone know much about this drug? I have a port and Im always tired and aches. I have stage 4 rcc. It so read from my kidneys to my left femur and the tumor actually fractured my femur and then it spread to my spine. I've had a rod placed in my femur and my left kidney removed and the tumor removed off my spine. My hair is falling out, not in clumps but its falling out and I was told with the optdivo that shouldn't happen.... I feel alone.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
My cancer was caught early enough so it didn't spread...only had left kidney removed...do have Watch on some stuff on right kidney. So I'm really sorry I don't know much about chemo, I do unfortunately know a lot about cancer...it took my family and a Dear friend on the 11th.
This room is not used very much but I do respond, and will check back, and communicate with you. Have you gotten specific eating instructions, fluid intake? I had to totally change my diet, I'm at stage three...take care and really try to love yourself and your body..it helps.

ask your doctor about using baking soda id you have water retention in your ankles and feet.

Regarding side effects, my dad didn't get much. On the day of his infusions he usually feels week for the next day or the day after that, he is back to normal. During the start there was a rash that we were worried about but his doctor gave him a cream to dry it out and they vanished in a few days.
Obviously this is just the case for my dad and I'm sure everyone has had different experiences with Opdivo. If theres anything cancer treatment teaches us is that everyone's body is different. And everyone will have different side effects. I hope and pray that Opdivo works for you.
