Hi Sadie...I'm So Very Sorry...sounds like you have been through the ringer, body, mind and soul.

My cancer was caught early enough so it didn't spread...only had left kidney removed...do have Watch on some stuff on right kidney. So I'm really sorry I don't know much about chemo, I do unfortunately know a lot about cancer...it took my family and a Dear friend on the 11th.

This room is not used very much but I do respond, and will check back, and communicate with you. Have you gotten specific eating instructions, fluid intake? I had to totally change my diet, I'm at stage three...take care and really try to love yourself and your body..it helps.

Hi Sadie, My husband has RCC stage 4. Eleven years ago he had a fully encapsulated tumor in his right kidney. The kidney was removed an no further treatment was required except to be watched. Ten years later, after complaining about his back hurting, the Dr. finally found the source. He was immediately hospitalized and after a biopsy, it was determined his RCC had returned. Two vertebrae and one small portion of his rib is involved. No surgery to remove the cancer is expected to be possible. We were told Chemo is not an option with RCC so I am wondering how you are doing. My husband currently is on Votrient and also receives a monthly IV of Zometa to harden his bones.

Hi Sade! My dad is taking Opdivo for about 10 months now and is doing great! He was previously on Votrient but it did not do well for him at all and became malnourished because he couldn't eat. Doctors decided to take him off Votrient because they said it wasn't working anymore so they put him on Opdivo. He has since gained back the 35 pounds he lost and his last 2 scans have showed the cancer was stable and then reducing in size.

Regarding side effects, my dad didn't get much. On the day of his infusions he usually feels week for the next day or the day after that, he is back to normal. During the start there was a rash that we were worried about but his doctor gave him a cream to dry it out and they vanished in a few days.

Obviously this is just the case for my dad and I'm sure everyone has had different experiences with Opdivo. If theres anything cancer treatment teaches us is that everyone's body is different. And everyone will have different side effects. I hope and pray that Opdivo works for you.
