Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) Support Group

Renal cell carcinoma, also known by a gurnistical tumor, is the most common form of kidney cancer arising from the renal tubule. It is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. Initial therapy is with surgery. It is notoriously resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, although some cases respond to immunotherapy.

I have just been diagnosed with RCC this week so am going through more scans and specialist's visits to decide surgery options. I feel very fortunate that a CT Scan for recently diagnosed Rheumatoid Arthritis picked up the tumour on my right kidney.

I've been reading some of the posts here and have found them very helpful. I can see what a caring and supportive community this is. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions to ask in the near future once my mind begins to take this all in.

Hi Angelpuss, I, like you am new to this evil rrc. I also had a tumor on my right kidney and had it ( Igor) and my kidney removed on Dec 21st. I am recovering very well and anxious to go back to work on the 25th of Jan. I do not think that I have really accepted what has happened yet because I have not even cried once I just keep handling my day to day business. My doctor yold me yesterday that my cure rate was somewhere between 40 and 70% but I need to not even think about numbers right now. I also have found some comfort and useful information on this site although there has not been much activity this last week. Good luck to you and try to keep a positive attitude!

Welcome to DS,

I have been a member since last year and have found many wonderful supportive friends. It is my husband who has mRCC. He was dx in 2002 and has been receiving a variety of treatments in order to keep him alive and leading a happy and productive life. Today, there is much better treatment options than there was back in 2002 and I just know even better option lie ahead.

This is a good place to connect with people who share a similar path as you. I wish you the very best and don't hesitate to share anything on your mind with us. There are so many caring listeners here.

Hello. So glad you have joined our DS family. There are many wonderful people here, and all will be willing to help you. This is a very scary diagnosis. Hopefully, surgery will be all you need. Like Linda said, there are many wonderful drugs available today. We all continue to pray for a cure for this, and it could come any day. My husband also has mRCC. I am here for you, Hon. Hang in there.
