My 17 year old daughter has been suffering for the last 2 1/2 years from fatigue, pain, weakness, nausea and anxiety. During that time she's had to quit dance, cheerleading and feels completely removed from her friends and the high school career she dreamed she'd have. This all came after multiple bouts with strep and a tonsillectomy. More recently, however, the pain became unbearable with "shock" like bee stings all over her back, torso arms and legs. These randomly occur at any given time. All of the women in my family have Fibromyalgia including myself, so I took her to a rheumatologist where she was recently diagnosed with RSD and will begin PT and OT next week. During these years that she struggled without a diagnosis it's been difficult to get her to school and she's mostly been tutored. Getting her to school is hit or miss depending on the day and how fatigued or uncomfortable she is. My question is this...For those of you still in school...how do you manage your illness and getting an education? For those of you who are caregivers to a teen with RSD...How do you manage caring for your child and knowing when to push and knowing when to pull back? For those with RSD...I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you.
