Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Support Group
Reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (RSDS), also known as complex regional pain syndrome, is a chronic condition characterized by severe pain following injury to bone and soft tissue. The most common symptom is burning pain. The patient may also experience muscle spasms, local swelling, increased sweating, softening of bones, joint tenderness or stiffness, restricted or...
I was diagnosed with RSD from trying to help someone walking their dog. This person and the dog they were walking was being attacked by another dog (loose) and was jumping at the guy walking the dog. I ran out to help, we both kicked this dog off of his dog, when to other dogs came runningout of a house and one jumped on me and grabbed my left leg and tore through muscheles and left a gapping hole.
I went to my regular doc who tried creams, patches, etc... then referred me to Pain Management about 6 months later from the date of injury who tried multiple items and physical therapy. I am now trying a different pain clinic who are trying different meds as well, and nothing helps yet. Give it a try, just be very careful as it can make you very tired. Don't let my experience defer you from taking in. Unfortuantely I did not get any results from it, and I had trouble while driving for work while on it.
My treatment has been so delayed as well and it is frustrating! I also have issues of PTSD from this issue and had to hire an attorney to help to get the owner of the Dogs to take some responsability. I now see a counselor with the PTSD issue and on anti-depressants as well. I have had to call the pain clinic and the PTSD counselors just to get help with relieving some of the pain before going crazy.
Please remember regardless of how bad the pain is, there are people who care about you. There has got to be some relief, we can't all live like this anymore.... hang in there.
