Reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (RSDS), also known as complex regional pain syndrome, is a chronic condition characterized by severe pain following injury to bone and soft tissue. The most common symptom is burning pain. The patient may also experience muscle spasms, local swelling, increased sweating, softening of bones, joint tenderness or stiffness, restricted or...
Lots of love and prayers,
Lucy
She focused more on upping my pain medications and encouraging me to move more and get back into walking daily at the local pool, to help my body remember how to walk right and use the muscles as well as help with my reactions to touch of any kind.
She had also referred me to another pain manager to look at the possiblity of nerve blocks, which they will not do for two reasons- too much damage and scar tissue making hitting the nerve bundles very difficult for them and even if it worked, she said the RSD would just come right back because of all the damage to my left arm and back.
So not very encouraging but with the new level of pain med, I'm feeling a bit better. She wanted to go up much higher but I insisted we go slowly to only have to take the minimum needed for relief. (I'm already up to a very high level of meds... sadly many pain meds, and meds in general do not work on me )
So this time I'm trying to stay more positive and just working on moving more. When it spread to my feet due to a reaction to neurontin/ms contin I really lost it and didn't think I could live with it. Now I know that I can and it will work out, as long as I keep fighting it and moving.
In real life, this condition has destroyed my entire life and I am severely depressed but in public I always portray a happy image and make people laugh with my quick sense of humor. I do what I can to be productive and keep myself distracted from the never-ending pain. I try to do what I can for other people to keep my mind off my own problems. I hope someone will find something that will help you feel better.
He put the ribs back in place, and now we've had to do it twice. I had to take time off as the second time he put it back very bad things happened! ( I slammed my jaw shut to keep from screaming it hurt so bad and broke part of my lower jaw and jammed my partials in my mouth...had to get help to remove them and broke a few roots on teeth in the process :(. SO not really sure if this is progress or not! Now have to have oral surgery next week to fix some of the damage.
My shoulder has hurt off and on since I fell 4 1/2 years ago. It appears that the rib dislocation may have happened then and has been popping in and out ever since...don't know. Also, it doesn't yet mean that RSD hasn't moved into area, as working with it put me flat out in bed and in so much pain I'm not sure I can go back to see the chiropractor and risk it happening again...
But for now, feeling a bit better with the increased meds my pain management perscribed, and some time to heal from the chiropractor ( it's been a little over a month and I just got better enough to get out of bed...still in recovery but better)
Just thought I'd let everyone know there was a reason for the pain! Not just out of the Blue.
Ssblk- there is always something positive in your life, you just have to look for it. For me it's my family and my pets. They help give me a reason to get up and try. Without them I'm not sure I would be able to, but I suppose I would just have to find another reason or create one. I refuse to let RSD rule my life, it's just one part of me not the whole, there's a lot more to me than just pain and a medical condition!
Peace and may you find you Positive Place!
