I have two stories to tell you and let you think about them.
At my last job I worked in the executive office for a company that made the Walmart brand or "Great Value" zipper bags. Walmart has VERY high standards of production for their product and the companies better listen up or they will drop you from their line-up. They inspect everything and if there is a customer complaint that letter is tracked back to the mfg that made the bag and believe me Walmart follows through on it. Their customers are really important and they know they are the backbone of their business. Paying for a name brand does not always bring you a quality product.
Also---- and this will surprise you. I was watching either Primetime or 20/20 on TV a couple yrs ago (can't remember which one) They were doing comparisons on 14K gold jewelry. The jewelry were purchased from various high end jewelry stores along with Walmart. They were being tested out by goldsmiths to determine the real amount of gold in each piece. Some jewelry stores advertised at 14K were in fact only 12 or 13K gold. Walmart came in as the closest if not the exact -- 14K gold. So if you like wearing less than the real thing go to the BIG fancy places and when you walk out with it on your finger nobody really cares about the store you bought it at. Unless of course you go to trade it in and then you will see what you got for your money.
Walmart was started way back when by a Christian man and his family. They have built an empire but the family donates tons of money to charities also. And if you think they are the only ones that buy their products from China----check your "name brand" labels. While you are checking them see how well they are made. I am also a seamstress and have seen some pretty shabby clothing products with name brand labels on.
Just thought I would drop this by because it is interesting. Actually life is really interesting the more you learn the more interesting it gets.........happy week everyone ! =)
Intersting post Barbie. I already almost always buy the store brands too. The Laura Lynn brand at Ingles is really good too just like the Great Value brand at Walmart is.
Really?! I used to be a seamstress too!
I like the great value brand, the foods taste great.I like to shop the Bottom Dollar store for foods too, they have some great sale deals. We get 90% of what we buy from Walmart. The prices are just so good.I do wish more things where made in America, to help us all have jobs, but that is out of my hands or control. We don't have an Ingles in our area.Angel food is a great budget helper, sold by churches.I like to get jewelry from pawn shop, it is real cheap ,also Kmart has 75% off on jewelry a lot of times. When I was engaged we did see a wedding ring set at walmart that was the keepsake brand, that is good long lasting brand name of jewelry, that we liked a lot. They have some real nice neck chains too.I seldom every buy jewelry.Anyway I just buy according to price, I am a poor person, and where ever it is cheapest that where I shop.I don't hold anything against any store.
