over this past year someone who we will call kate came into my life for her job. She has now become one of the most important people in my life. She has always listened to me and is here when I need her. Last summer she offered me a place in her home for me to live and considers me a part of her family. I spent one night at her home and even though I absolutely loved it there and felt so comfortable, I felt even more compelled to have to go back to my house into the same situation and I don't know why. This past august when I left for college, kate still stayed in contact with me. We would text on our phones very often. I started counseling at school but was scared to go alone. Kate would drive an hour to attend my appts with me and then drive back home. After a few months I ended up withdrawing from school and moved back home. Kate is still a constant in my life and is trying to help me out of a bad situation. I have several close friends and a best friend jen who I have know since I was 8, I am 19 now. But I can not talk to any of my other close friends like I can with kate. Kate is amazing. She seems to understand so much more and knows what to do and say. Kate is in her 50's and has so much more knowledge. I respect her and look up to her. Lately things have been so tough to deal with. I feel like I'm at my rope's end with everything. I haven't talked to kate in over a week because I am so afraid that my downward spiral and negative attitude will push her away and I really don't want that. I want so bad to talk to her and I need her. I am just so scared to lose her. I am so blessed and lucky to have her in my life. Should I talk to her right now or wait until my outlook on things and negativity changes? I don't know what to do..

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I found it very helpful to go to rape counseling.....trust me i was terrified when I first went, but the reason I tried it was because if you don't like your counselor or feel comfortable you can just go see a different one. I found an amazing person who was my rape counselor through the local center, she helped me so much. I'm not sure if that's something you'd wanna consider. But it is an option. It's always helpful to be able to turn to more than just one person for support. Hope this helps, keep your head up :)

I am in my late 20's. My therapist is in her 50's. I am so grateful I have her in my life. I feel, in addition to her decades of professional experience in this field, her own personal life experience helps her see things different from somebody my own age. I value her opinion and wisdom. I take her advice to heart and all around I am more comfortable with her than I could be with anybody else. I feel this is also because I started seeing her only 2 days after my assault...so she has seen me at my weakest points.
It's a comfort thing. I don't feel that you will be pushing her away. I think if you write her a letter (or card) and tell her how grateful you are for having such a wonderful person like her in your life, it will mean more to her than you think. If you explain to her why you need her, she will stay by your side.
I have many great friends that I love more than anything...but when it comes to the assault stuff, I save it for my therapist. I don't even talk to my husband about it much at all anymore (unless I REALLY need to). It's not just because I don't want to be a burden on them, it's because they truly don't understand what I am going through and have a hard time with it. With age, we gain more life experiences. She seems to understand what you're going through and that's important. You seemed to have really bonded with her...you should let her know how important she is to you :)
