Honey...you don't HAVE to do anything. If you feel that telling your mom will help and you need her support...absolutely then yes tell her. If you don't feel comfortable telling her...then don't. This is the time where you are going to start rebuilding her sense of power...and it starts with this decision. The decision completely belongs to you. Good luck! I am here if you need someone!

You don't HAVE to tell anyone, but it does help I kept it inside for uhhh 4 years. I didn't tell anyone at all. When I did finally tell someone I felt better. Therapy really helps because it gives you someone to talk to and you don't feel like you're being judged. They're pretty much just there to listen.

Telling your mom would be a good idea, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

You've got to tell someone, so it boils down to whom you trust the most to do what's best for you. You can't just bury this inside, it won't stay.

It is your choice of who you tell; but please get help. Find someone who you trust, go to a rape crisis center (most towns have them, they are free, and completly confidential) Remember, it is not your fault and there is nothing to be ashamed of asking for help.

I am sorry you feel that it made it worse. That must be a terrible feeling. I think you should tell your mom, but it is completly your decision. Another important thing is to make sure you are physically o.k. Did you go see a doctor?

Hi hon, it is important that you find someone that you trust. For some of us it takes longer than others. I hope that you can find a friend. Crisis centers often have phone counselors if you are not up for face to face chat yet.

Like someone else said.... this dosen't stay away forever.... it will eventually come back. Iam just now starting to come to grip with the reality that I was raped 12 years ago. You have to do whatever is right for you and if that is telling your mom, fine. If that is waiting until you are ready to fully deal with the trauma that you have been through that is fine too!

Hi... i was rapped a long time ago and i never told anyone cuz the guy that raped me said he would hurt me and my aunt who was like my mom... but was i got a little older i thought about telling someone but i didnt and i kept keeping it inside but i finally told my grandma what he did to me and it felt alot better i was so happy that i did tell and now the guy that did it is in jail for 60 years.. and i feel so safe... but that was me i think u should think about how much better u would feel if u told ur mom and how much happier u would be if u did.... im here foe u if u want to talk

I never told my mom but my mom is the type where ur business is everyone elses business. i wish i could have told her. i told my sister and i didnt feel any different. it all depends on what kind of relationship you have with ur mother or family members too. i also didnt tell any other family members because i dont wana be treated different or "special"

IF I WAS YOU I WOULD NOT TELL MY MOTHER FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARN AND EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE MY MOTHER DID NOT BELIEVE ME AND SHE BLAME ME FOR IT, SO IT WOULD MAKE THINGS A LITTLE HARD.

It's really your choice, but if you think you can handle it, it would be a good idea to yell your mother. If you think that she would be supportive of you and get you the help you deserve, then you really should tell her. She could be a valuable resource in coping with this.

If you're not able to tell your mother, you could try telling your closest friend or someone else in your family that you're close to and you can trust. It's best if you tell someone, even if it's not your mom, so you get a chance to talk about this.

I would personally recommend telling her. I didn't tell my mom until a few days after it happened, and all I can say is that a huge weight was lifted off my shoulder. With my mom's support, I felt like I would be able to get through it. Telling my mom definitely made it easier to deal with.

If you think that she would not support you or you just don't feel like you would appreciate her support, then don't.

I was terrified to tell my mom, but in the end she was just concerned about me and wanted to help.

I guess I am trying to say that it's a hard, hard thing to carry with you, and it helps to have someone to try and share the burden.

I would also like to say that there are many ways to 'tell' someone. My daughter left me a note just yesterday about having been raped months ago. I am certain that even that was difficult for her, but she seemed so relieved to be able to talk about it. I pray that I can be of support and help to her in this time, as I really could have used when I was younger as well. I pray to be the Mother that I needed but did not have. I pray so many things so early this morning...and I pray that things will get better for you too Anggie.
