Rape Support Group
If you or someone you know has been the victim of rape, this is the place to find support and get advice. If you want, discuss your experience, share your feelings, and meet others going through a similar situation.

I'll get to the point in just a moment, however I need some advice and you need to know background before I just say my wonderings.
When I was a freshman in high school, I was in a relationship with a person (whom I had been dating for a year prior to this) who at first was just slightly manipulative and would put on some pressure to kiss him certain ways. After a coupe of months, he felt me up while I was asleep on their family's couch. When I woke up (I woke up in the middle of it and couldn't move and pretended to still be asleep for a while while I tried to figure out what to do) and told him I knew what happened, he started acting incredibly dramatic and long story short he not only asked me not to tell anyone but then nonverbally made that a command by saying stuff like, "I can't live without you, if I can't have you I'll die," and proceeded to cut his hand open with his knife in front of me, then saying, "You know where this will go when you leave," and crap. He was always acting suicidal.
However, without going into much detail (and there's a lot), the next year and a half consisted of things getting worse and worse. He manipulated, pressured, coerced, and eventually forced me to perform many sexual favors, including but not limited to: fingering, oral, anal, and semi-vaginal (he never went all the way), hand jobs, and other things. These things happened nearly every day from October 2009 through January 2011, in private, on public school buses, in my mom's car, in my boarder's feed shed, pretty much everywhere. Since then I have had too many physical repercussions to count, not to mention the emotional and mental struggles I have every day. I didn't feel like I could do anything about it then because I felt like he'd commit suicide if I left or something. I also did not call any of it rape at first because, in the limited knowledge I had as a teenager, I thought "rape" was violent, forced, penetrative sexual assault by a stranger.
Anyway, that brings me to my question. It's been almost 9 years since these things started and I've come to a place where I can start to handle it. I never seriously considered pressing charges because by now of course there's no biological proof and I also "didn't want to ruin his life" by putting a mark on his record. I've come to more sense since I've started the healing process, and I'm wondering if I have enough leverage to do something about this.
He wrote in my journal at the time, "I'm sorry for raping you." So, that's admittance of offense. The reasons for why I want to do something about this now is 1) yes, I do want some sort of justice for what I have to deal with every day and 2) I want to prevent it from happening to anyone else. I already know that he's done some inappropriate and kinky stuff to another person, and so I want to stop the buck.
My question is: do you think that this journal entry, in his own handwriting, could even POSSIBLY be enough to press charges? If you need more information or clarification, let me know, I'm happy (and in a good enough place) to talk about it.
Thanks.
