This does directly mean rape.

My class at school was doing a lab exam for a biology class and it was a really hard test. After we finished the first part of the test the teacher asked us to take a 5 minute break outside so he can get the second part ready. Then a guy in my class said it was like a rape victim being given 5 minutes to freshen up. then he laughed at his own joke.

there is someone else in my class who was in a building that exploded. If someone decided to be funny and said writing the test is like being burned alive everyone would have stood up for the person who was in the explosion.

I don't even like the term being used in a nonchalent way,,,example would be something like "the irs rapes the american people everychance they get" I find the term absolutly offensive unless its being used properly in the correct connotation by people who know what the hell they are talking about. I think the best way to get the point across is to pick a scenario and say, what if that was you mother, your sister, your grandma, your aunt, your little brother. How would you feel then. You need to make it real for them. Usually dragging ones younger siblings or mother into it gets the point across.

idk i know alot of people around me use the word loosely and i get upset, i know they do it in fun....but its not fun for me....like if they are playing and they start screaming rape,, or saying ima rape you, i dont find that the least bit funny but they laugh

Many people don't fully understand how awful rape acctually is, so for some, rape is a joke. Some might even not know exactly what rape is. What I do when I hear someone say, "Oh, I'm going to rape you" in a joking way, is tell them it's extremely immature and you could be hurting someone by saying that and you might not even know it so they should watch what they say.

ya rape jokes disgust me.... the people telling them have never gone through it and dont know how it feels.... I remember once I overheard a girl saying that women who get raped are an embarressment to all women because we make a "big deal" over it and that women who get raped should just shut up and move on with their lives..... She wasnt saying a joke but I heard her say that.... I walked up to her and told her to go f off then I walked away..... People are so ignorant

Personally, rape jokes don't really bother me, becuase I know that they are just jokes and are not to be taken seriously. Even I am guilty of making rape jokes, very crude ones, with my friends. I have had both women and men come up to me and tell my that I'm being insensitive. My friends and I toss jokes around like groping each other and then yelling "help! Date rape!" or walking up behind each other and making humping motions and saying "Take it bitch" I never really thought about how it might affect others, to me they are just funny jokes. :\

When I'm in counselling for the rape that happened to me I get to joke about it a little because that makes it easier for me to talk about it. Talking about it gives me a headache and I've been told that getting me to talk about it is exceedingly difficult (more than most people they see)

So I said that the guy who attempted to rape me was my boyfriend who I was going out with for four months. After he had me pinned down and wouldn't let me up he told me that he waits four months and that's it. Then I was told that he doesn't actually have that 4 month rule and was just making that up on the spot. Then it turned into a joke about if it was in an alley it would be a three minute rule and for some reason I found that funny. It's a sick joke but laughing made my headache go away.

Like most of you, I also have a huge problem with rape jokes. I think it's disgusting that people find any humor is something so horrible. To make jokes about such things is really not funny, it's cruel. I always feel very uncomfortable when people use that word around me in any context, but to have someone joking about it really hurts. It's extremely insensitive and offensive.
