For a while now I have been talking with a female detective in the area. Over time we have become friends and when I would talk with her it would be as friends- seeking support and advice. She proved to be the most reliable, trustworthy, caring person for me and I needed that so badly. I am so thankful to have her in my life.
Well, as a friend and detective, she wants an investigation. I have refused to press charges and made it very clear that I am mentally not ready for an investigation. I have refused to tell law enforcement who my attacker is so they will be going off suspision. Very soon they will start interviewing my family and friends. They have physical evidence and have forced me to give a dna sample to match to the clothing. I'm very upset and am stressing out over this whole thing. I feel very betrayed and feel like I can not trust law enforcement. I refused to help with the investigation and they said they will move forward without me. I know I sound very selfish and I know I am wrong. But right now, I am not mentally ready to press charges. And I feel like since I was the one who was attacked, I should be the one to make the decision about this. I am having a very hard time and am very scared. My family has not been supportive and I know once they find out about me talking to law enforcement, I will lose them.
What should I do? Am I wrong? Would you be upset if you didn't have the choice of your own to press charges when you were ready?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Six years later I got a knock on my door I had moved had a child and finally had grown up and had become a strong woman and felt happy and in control of my life. I was told the person who had attacked me had murdered and raped a young woman and was going to be all over the news and they wanted to let me know. I did testify in a hearing involving that case and faced him in court.
I have to tell you I felt so strong and great afterward. I met 15 of his other victims( there were way more than that. He is now in jail for life, he apparently started raping when he was a teen. I am telling you all this because I understand what you are saying about not emotionally being ready to do this, I couldn't do it. Years later, after alot of healing and growing I was able to testify to help someone else, and in turn it did help me. I don't know your situation, or the laws in your state as to pressing charges without the victim. This may not be helpful, I just think you have to do what you think Is best for you, and I would see a therapist for help in figuring out what to do. I am sorry you are going through this and I will keep you in my prayers that you find the answer and some comfort.
