I was first raped my freshman year of high school. The first person who I ever really talked about it with was my dean at the school who has really helped me. When it came to "who" attacked me, I lied about the details of him and never gave a name. I was raped 4 more times by the same person in high school and many, many times I would go and talk to my dean since I trusted her and she was very helpful. The ending of my senior year she had called in a female detective in my hometown to talk with me (this same detective was called in during my sophmore year so she was familiar.) Over the past 6 months I have gotten really close with this detective and we talk very often. I have grown to trust her with whatever. I have lied and have said that the guy who has attacked me is in his 40's and I know very little about him. Truth is, he is my neighbor, only 5 years older then me so that makes him 23 and I know quite a bit about him. As a scared, non-trusting freshman in high school I believed that it wouldnt matter if I lied about who because I would never ever trust anyone enough to give my abusers name. Well, now I really trust this detective who is now a close friend of mine and I want to tell her who but Im afraid to since I have created a whole different abuser from the real one I deal with. Should I tell her the truth? Will she understand?
